Hundred thousands American teenagers take alcohol and drugs
Hundred thousands American teenagers take strong drinks and drugs. Such are the results of the research conducted on demand of one of the U. S. Department of Health’s divisions. In 2006 in the USA 1,2 million teenagers smoked, 631 thousand - took alcohol and 586 thousand - smoked marihuana.
At that about 27 thousand took hallucinogens, 13 thousand smelt cocaine and 3,8 thousand took heroin. Head of the division Terri Klein has marked, that the collected data show essential reduction in number of the teenagers who smoke, took alcohol and narcotic substances.
The situation began to improve since 2002. It was informed also that a year before, in 2005 over 76 thousand teenagers underwent out-patient treatment for alcoholic, nicotine or narcotic dependence, and more than 1 thousand of minors were treated in the specialized establishments.
