October 4th, 2007

But this is only peak of an iceberg. Scientists from Michigan University have established, children who sleep little, 2 times more often start to smoke, take alcohol and drugs, than their coevals, who get enough sleep. Unhealthy sleep quite often leads to problems at school and is a marker of the latent anxiety and aggression. Besides chronic not getting enough sleep can end with serious cardiovascular diseases and cause problems with excess weight, - writes medicinform.net

Experts consider that sleep of the teenager should last not less than eight hours. The teenager should have a habit to go to bed and be up at the certain time, this ordinary routine should be kept every day. Before going to bed the child should not be exposed to the influence of too bright illumination, while in the morning, on the contrary, his room should be illuminate as bright, as it is possible. The matter is that intensity of light informs our brain when to be prepared for a sleep and when for awakening.

Besides this ordinary routine, it is important also to adhere to the biological rhythms of an organism. The child should learn to distinguish time when he is the most active and according to it plan “working day”. An hour before sleep it is desirable to avoid reading the serious literature, making home tasks, computer games and the TV as all this “unsettles” and does not allow to fall asleep, - writes efamily.ru

Summing up, it is necessary to note, that sleeplessness is one of serious problems of the modern person. So, for example, according to the British scientists, only 3 % of the residents of the developed countries do not suffer from sleeplessness.
