The small bibliophile (Part 2)

January 9th, 2008

In the first reading …
Don’t be upset, if at first your kid will use the personal library not as you would have imagined it. Certainly, it is important to convince your kid at once that the book should be treated carefully. But nevertheless be ready that the most favorite of them “will be read” literally up to holes. Torn literature is an evidence of growing interest and creative potential of your child. If you refuse to understand it, then do not give books at all. But, I hope, you are modern parents and know about this important stage of development. Therefore be patient.

Birth of the interest
Closer to one year the child will start to point the image so that the mum or the daddy names it. However, if your kid is not interested in books yet, don’t hurry and postpone it for some time.

When the kid learns to answer a question “Where?”, ask him to show this or that image.
Give more attention to details. For example, ask the child to show a tail or hoofs, flowers, small insects, etc.

The small bibliophile (Part 1)

January 8th, 2008

Reading is one of few pleasant, fascinating and developing activities.

Recently on sale have appeared special books for infants. Some of them are made of a waterproof material and will please your baby in a bath. With others – plush books - it is pleasant to play and fall asleep. Scientists are convinced that is a true way to inculcate in kids a love for books. Unfortunately, there are no so many such books. Most of the production is intended for children from one year and elder. But don’t think that three-four monthly kid does not need a “printed word”. Try to read your kid rhythmical verses, the classical literature. What to choose and what language – is your choice. The main thing is that the selected verses have filled the world of the child with harmony and melodious sounds.

Age features
Certainly, at this age children are interested neither in a plot, nor in illustrations.
At the age of six - seven months children, as a rule, have the first library consisting of small sized books. There are a lot of bright pictures, but only a few sentences. Books are printed on a dense cardboard and consist of the several pages. Cognitive books will help your child to fill up vocabulary and to “liberalize”.
Remember, that acquaintance with «a source of knowledge» should be gradual.

How many toys does the child need? (Part 2)

December 26th, 2007

A doll should be mentioned separately. This toy is irreplaceable in household games (washing, cleaning, cooking, and going to bed). These games are popular among both boys and girls. It happens first of all because they daily observe parents doing these things and copy it in a game. For development of such games children should have toys-home appliances and things: crockery, small bath, scraps, phone, a handbag, a stroller, etc.
Children begin to play with a doll gradually, imitating the daddy or mum - partners on game. The last think out new plots for these games – the doll has dinner; the doll waits for visitors, etc. These games solve such important tasks, as familiarization with things, their properties and functions, development of speech.

For development of a theme and a plot parents can get appropriate sets of toys. Books and video-films of the same subject-matter will expand child’s idea about the outward things.

During bathing, walks, rest at a summer house the child needs appropriate toys. Toys for outdoor games are especially significant.

To fulfill child’s need in movement, it would be nice to have ninepins, grace, badminton or tennis rackets, quoits.

How many toys does he or she need for this purpose? A few, to tell the truth! The main thing, they should be various, they should awaken imagination, developed talents, induce to game and be pleasant to the child.

Remarriage and children

December 25th, 2007

Crisis of traditional family in the Western Europe leads to the situation when more and more children face a problem of adaptation in family after remarriage of one of the parents.

In France 4,3 million children either live with one of the parents, or with the stepfather or the stepmother after remarriage of parents.
One of the most difficult tasks is to handle with children of the stepmother or the stepfather. The problem is that most divorces happen when children on the average are about 4 years old. Remarriages took place some years later and, thus, children get used to a life with one parent. To build relations after that at once with several new members of a family is uneasy.

How many toys does the child need? (Part 1)

December 21st, 2007

Usually parents, their friends and relatives like to give the child toys. Girls are loaded shower with dolls, boys with cars and pistols. Both boys and girls have teddy bears. To tell the truth, “tons” get dusty in boxes or on book shelves.
All boxes and cases are filled up with toys, but parents notice, that the kid doesn’t play with them.
What toys are necessary for high-grade development of your child and how much of them?

The children’s toy has appeared long ago. Some of them historians give 5 thousand years. But for sure toys existed 10 thousand years ago, and didn’t remain only because were made of a flimsy material - clay, straw, wood. Since the most ancient times the toy helped the child to adapt for a life of adults, developed qualities which will be useful in the further.

Boys with appreciable interest observe daddy’s actions connected to technical equipment, and then start to play with cars. They are bewitched with the railway with a steam locomotive, and carriages with toy animals.
This way the game and a toy helps in formation of positive emotions, an establishment of contacts between the child and the adult.

Some advices how to prevent problems in children’s food (Part 2)

December 20th, 2007

Discuss with children, both girls and boys, the following:

Danger of trying to alter a figure with the help of a diet;
Advantages of physical exercises for both a figure, and health as a whole;
Importance of regular meal, at least, 3 times a day and using of various foodstuffs.
Besides you should be an example of an eutrophy and physical activity.

Tell children that physical exercises should give pleasure, instead of being just means for fat burning and waste of calories.

Explain children that they should not avoid any activity (for example, dances, swimming, etc.) only because of their excess weight.

Teach your kids to perceive people, especially women, not «according to the cloth» but reasoning from their words, deeds, thoughts.

Explain to children that the fashionable image of a model only helps to sell clothes, but people should aspire to be individuality.

Encourage activity of children and praise them more often. Do not limit the amount of calories eaten by children just because you want to do this way. Simply feed them qualitatively and correctly.

Some advices how to prevent problems in children’s food (Part 1)

December 19th, 2007

The given article is called to help parents to prevent serious psychological disorders, which can lead to anorexia and bulimia.

The most important that you should do before teaching your children, is to understand how current opinion has affected your views concerning appearance and figure. Further to become reconciled with yourself and only after that to tell children about genetic features of a female and man’s body, about the nature of prejudices.
By the way, plumpness in hips, waists and hands is genetically caused feature of a female organism, so to say, a stock of nutrients for the child, and also protection (waist area) of a fetus from a cold and mechanical damages.

Analyze your dreams and aspirations. Ask yourself: whether you demand too much from the child concerning his or her appearance? Especially it concerns girls. Whether you frequently criticize the child as that: «do not eat so much; if you weighed less, I would like you more; you do not look as this girl from a cover; these fashionable things are only for such slim girls, as models and so on … ».

Such statements are direct way to such diseases as an anorexia and bulimia.

Learn from your children (Part 2)

December 6th, 2007

Learn to see the positive side of things. How often do you wake up in the morning grumbling? Pay attention that children very seldom wake up in a bad mood. They are ready to be pleased with each new day! Any trifle causes delight: new, cheap, a toy and simply a trip to a new place.

Learn to see the world without prejudices. Children initially have no prejudices and perceive people from the impressions. They more easily submit to circumstances than adults.
Children in their estimation of the person never look at the well-being, color of skin, etc. If the child loves any person – it’s only for internal qualities - care, compassion, cheerfulness, etc., instead of how he looks, behaves or which toys gives. As a rule, if the small child has prejudices they are imposed to him by adults.

Learn to be honest. The child initially is not inclined to lie. All his “lie” is harmless imaginations. Children younger than six years frequently tell the stories thought out by them and sometimes they even trust these stories. It is not lie or deceit; they just do not precisely distinguish a reality from fiction. Child learns to lie knowingly from adults, and first “teachers”, unfortunately, are parents.

Learn not to give up. Have you ever seen the child, trying to learn to go? He or she falls, rises, again falls and again rises. Children are incredibly persistent and persevering in their desire to achieve something. Besides they have a good stock of patience and can wait for results of the activity for a long time.

Learn from your children (Part 1)

December 5th, 2007

We have got used to teach children everything. But actually the adult also have something to learn from children. You should only want it and open the soul to the world the way children do it.

Learn to laugh. Children are able to laugh very well - with great ease and from the heart. Sometimes they laugh even through the wet tears. And frequently they laugh simply because they want to laugh at the given moment, not paying attention to surrounding people and conventionalities. It is proved, that the frank laughter is useful both for a body, and for mentality. Have you laughed today?

Learn to be surprised. Children actively investigate this world. They feel curiosity and surprise at a meeting with any new thing or event. Why many adults become such boring and prefer cynicism to a joyful surprise? May be because they got used to hide behind cynicism, like behind a fence, the true feelings, which they are ashamed of for some reasons?
Actually there is nothing shameful in curiosity and surprise. Adults forget how to be interested in a life and to take pleasure from the life, from fine events, such as the first flower in spring or a beautiful butterfly.

How to provide correct food for the child (Part 2)

December 3rd, 2007

Do not give the child too wide choice concerning the food. It’s better to say - here is today’s supper. And your child will choose from those products which you have prepared.

When you offer new products, do not offer too much at once. In the beginning offer a little – just to taste. After you have understood that your kid liked it, offer the same food the next day.

Do not forget, there are no identical people and tastes. One likes this, another - that. There are no multi-purpose recipes. Some children do not like the certain food only because they ate it last time when were ill.

Whenever it is possible, give your kid the right to choose food independently. Remember, that children, as well as adults, can make their choice.

When your kid goes to a kindergarten or school, he or she will try other new for him products. It will expand his or her food horizon.
